Teen driving dad’s car hits e-rick in Dwarka, kills driver

New Delhi: A car, allegedly driven by a 16-year-old boy, rammed an e-rickshaw near the Dwarka Sector 16 metro station on Friday morning, killing the 40-year-old e-rickshaw driver. Police claimed that the car belonged to the boy’s father and action would be initiated against him. The car also overturned from the impact, but the boy and his younger sister were safe. The accident took place around 11.15am near the Dwarka Nala Road stretch close to the metro station when the minor driver lost control of the vehicle. It flipped and crashed into the oncoming e-rickshaw. The e-rickshaw driver, a resident of Najafgarh, was critically injured and rushed to a hospital.“He was declared unfit to give a statement and later succumbed to head injuries. The car was being driven at high speed and appears to have flipped before ramming the e-rickshaw,” said a senior police officer.According to the FIR, after the high-impact crash, the car was lying upside down on the side of the road and the e-rickshaw was standing diagonally on the other side of the road. A crime team inspected the scene and both vehicles were seized.Police have registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (death due to negligence) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
