New Delhi: Observing that there’s no point in having an arms licence if one is not allowed to keep ammunition for that weapon, a Delhi court dismissed a revision petition filed by Delhi Police against an order of a lower court that discharged a man accused under the Arms Act, 1959. In May 2019, Amit Chaudhary was held at IGI Airport after five live cartridges were recovered from him. He told additional sessions judge Deepti Devesh that he had a valid licence for a revolver issued by the district magistrate of Ghaziabad. “The possession of ammunition by the accused itself was not illegal because he held a valid arms licence on the date of recovery,” the court said.
