New Delhi: A 10-year-old boy died by suicide at his home in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar, though his family alleges foul play. The deceased lived with his father and was a fifth-grade student in Nihal Vihar. He reportedly played games for prolonged periods. The cops, however, have denied any link between games and the boy’s death. The incident occurred on Thursday while the boy’s parents were at work. His father returned home in the evening to find a crowd gathered outside their house, where neighbours informed him that his son died by suicide. According to police, the parents provided the boy with his own mobile phone, which was found to have several games and an online video-sharing platform installed. The investigation indicates the child was playing games and watching videos for at least eight hours. “So far, we have not found anything in the child’s game chats related to suicide,” police said. When asked if the boy died by suicide due to money lost from purchasing virtual weapons in games, police stated they have not found any evidence of this angle. The family alleges that the boy may have been killed, pointing out that money was missing from their house.
