New Delhi: Delhi Police has arrested four men, including a jewellery businessman, for holding an 86-year-old retired NSG officer and his family captive. He also claimed there was a long-standing monetary dispute between them. The accused were identified as Mohammad Kaif, Alok Nath Mishra, Sohail, and Waseem.Police said the robbery was reported on July 19, when a retired NSG Commando, currently working as a diamond and gem artisan, was allegedly held at gunpoint along with his family. The accused looted all available jewellery and cash from the premises and fled the scene. Deputy commissioner of police (north) Raja Banthia formed a team under sub inspector Prashant Sharma. While investigating, cops found that one of the accused, after deboarding the metro, took a scooter parked near the station. It was found that it was registered in the name of a junior engineer. She was questioned and claimed that her driver, Mishra, had taken the scooter. Mishra was arrested. His interrogation led to the arrest of Kaif. During questioning, Kaif told police he had known the complainant for over 20 years and had been in the stone business with him for the past two years. According to Kaif, the complainant later began traveling abroad and allegedly took over Kaif’s clients, leading to financial losses. He claimed there was an unresolved monetary dispute and that he owed money to the complainant, which caused frequent arguments and eventually strained their relationship.Police said Kaif decided to take revenge and recruited three men to carry out the robbery. Sohail was later arrested, while Waseem initially evaded capture. He traveled across different states by bus and, to avoid detection, made phone calls only after moving far from his actual residence. Eventually, police tracked him to Mussoorie, dispatched a team there, and arrested him.
